Welcome to Doors Open Alberta
Unique buildings and spaces are associated with communities and may even visually define them for residents and visitors alike. It is buildings and public spaces that reinforce individual and community identity and pride. Examples of these range from the Legislature in Edmonton to Lougheed House in Calgary and railway stations, town halls, hotels, grain elevators, post offices, schools, churches, parks, residences and business premises throughout Alberta. The boom and bust times can be read in the architectural heritage.
Doors Open Alberta is part of a local, provincial, national and international, movement. It celebrates architecturally interesting buildings and places to encourage an understanding of how architecture influences us and shapes communities. Between May and October Alberta communities host Doors Open events.
